Watch Dealer App GmbH is a Swiss-based company on the forefront of the second digitalization wave within the global luxury watch industry. By gathering the international community of watch dealers, traders, collectors and private enthusiasts on one platform, they aim to revolutionize the digital business-to-business watch trade. The challenge
Requirement was to bring non-digital business online. This meant bringing together on one platform the watch dealers’ daily work activities of research, communication, and buying/trading luxury watches and spare parts. Before the pandemic this work was still mostly done on the many watch fairs around the world with digitalization only slowly becoming more prominent.The final goal was to build an online platform that would support all B2B needs, and greatly improve the user experience of digital watch trading with an all-in-one solution. The marketing challenge was how to approach and execute online marketing in a predominantly offline market segment. The fact that the watch dealer market is quite a closed community, still very much in the process of digitalization, meant that product development was harder. 
Solution
In order to come up with product development solutions we first needed to gather the necessary information/data of this offline watch business. Through interviews with dealers and extensive deskresearch we were able to understand our end-user’s needs, and the problems they need solved.Next, we used our senior Software development skills to translate the research into a custom-made solution for Backend (PHP), Frontend (React), and native mobile apps (Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android).Once the product was up and running, the watch dealer community was engaged with modern online marketing solutions. By aligning our social media presence (Instagram, Facebook) with the latest best practices, outstanding esthetics, and the creation of an engaging and modern Blog, we were able to build great product value and increase product reach. Our senior research and data analytics skills supported and guided the marketing campaigns and further product development. The product branding that formed the foundation of these solutions was also developed in-house.Furthermore, web and app analytics helped us understand user behavior. This constant testing enabled us to continually improve the platform with new features, while always having the watch dealers as end-users in mind, and at the same time creating great business value. Firebase and Google Analytics were the tools we applied for cost data, marketing and campaigns, as well as user behavior. On top of this we used A/B testing to find the preferred UI/UX of our users and their product needs.
